Hospital Memories

Yesterday my Dad was admitted into the hospital for a few days. We thought Dad was having symptoms of a heart attack so we took him to the ER to get checked out. Dad had all different tests ran to make sure his heart was ok. Come to find out his heart is perfectly fine! His blood tests for his heart were perfect too. So Amy and I thought we were going to take Dad home so he could rest... but no, the doctor had a but after saying his blood tests were fine for his heart. Dad's blood sugar was in the 500's. We found out yesterday Dad has diabetes. Dad was transported from Genesis East to Genesis West in the ambulance. Dad kept asking the nurse if Amy or I could take him. The nurse of course said no and he had to go in the ambulance. Dad is being monitored for a few days to see how to control his blood sugar. He seems to be doing fine with taking insulin. We will find out more info tomorrow I'm sure.

Now getting to memories of the hospital. I told Breckin last night that Grandpa Butch was in the hospital. The first thing he asked, "Is grandpa laying in bed? Can Grandpa lift his head?" Breckin is having memories of when Grandma Judy was in the hospital. Towards the end of Mom's life she was weak and couldn't hardly lift her head. But a couple days before Mom passed she had enough strength to lift her head to give Breckin kisses!! That was the last kiss Breckin got from her!

I had a talk with Breckin and told him that Grandpa isn't sick like how Grandma Judy was. He just needs to have doctors and nurses watch him to make sure he's all better to go home. I had Breckin give Dad a call so he could talk to him and hear his voice to know dad was ok. Breckin had a great big smile on his face talking to him!! Corey worked this morning so I couldn't see Dad right away today. Breckin and I went to go see Dad when Corey got home from work. On the way to the hospital Breckin asked, "Is Grandpa going to Heaven?" I was a little shocked to hear him say that. I asked him why he thought Grandpa was going to heaven and Breckin's response was Grandma Judy went to heaven. It was so heartbreaking to hear Breckin say that. Poor boy thinks when you are in the hospital you will be going to heaven :(

We got to the hospital and he saw dad and was excited to see him in regular clothes and not the hospital gown. We took Dad for a walk outside too. I'm glad Breckin came with me to see that his Grandpa Butch will be fine and able to go home!!
